de opleiding biedt. Uit de bronnenopgave blijkt niet dat de auteur zich met dit
aspect heeft beziggehouden.
Indien de functies van de verschillende bibliotheektypen (p. 1-3), zoals ze door F.
Baert worden-omschreven, als uitgangspunt van de probleembenadering werden
vooropgesteld dan kan getwijfeld worden aan elke huidige opleidingsvorm. Immers,
zonder de geringste restrictie noch verwijzing naar uitspraken of publikaties stelt de
auteur dat ‘de wetenschappelijke bibliotheek (WB) ... vooral een wetenschappelijke
en bewaarfunctie (heeft) : de nadruk komt op haar kollektie te liggen” (p. 2).
Andere punten zijn de verhouding tussen de ‘algemene vakken’ en de ‘bibliotheek-
techniek’ alsmede de graad van integratie van de programma’s voor de opleiding tot
bibliothecaris in een WB, een OB en een SpB. Indien een confrontatie tussen be-
hoefte en opleiding zou nagestreefd geworden zijn dan zouden o.m. de hoger aan-
gehaalde punten veel meer aandacht gekregen hebben dan nu.
Voor wat de auteur gepresteerd heeft, zonder veel nut, diende geen bibliotheekop-
leiding vooraf te gaan. Daarentegen zou men wel mogen verwachten van iemand die
de opleiding aan een bibliotheekschool heeft gevolgd dat hij, mits een behoorlijke
omkadering, een typisch bibliotheekvraagstuk meer fundamenteel en met meer
praktisch nut zou moeten kunnen onderzoeken.
