The planned Library network System between the Ministries and other suprême Fédéral Authorities in Bonn* Wolfgang D I E T Z Samenvatting. Summary. win Bonn an automated network, linking the libraries of twenty ministries and other suprême Fédéral Authorities is being set up. The Bundestag Library will assume direction and control, and provide the necessàry centralisation : it also is the seat of the computer installation, from which branch out the links to the twenty terminais. It is hoped these arrangements will achieve a first-rate service, as well as an apt stan- dardization and rationalization. It is also planned to have a m (three libraries) running by the moddle of 1979. The outcome of this should then détermine the final structure and manipulation of the total System. Ladies and gentlemen! When Mr. Grootaers visited me in Bonn a few months ago, I offered to give a talk to the staff of his library on the envisaged library network System in Bonn. At a later stage, Mr. Grootaers came forward with the idea of extending the audience to include the members of the ‘Section on Parliamentary Libraries’. I agreed to this suggestion even though our in- terconnected System of libraries has not been completed yet. In fact, we are at present only embarking on the second phase which will mean working out the details and technicalities of the network scheme. In other words, we are still far from having soled ail the problems which such a project automatically entails.
