Following his account in the ‘Dictionnaire d'Histoire Naturelle” the author gives a list of twenty-nine species

F, cafra, Desm.; F. mexicana is F. jaguarondi, Lack, ex Azara, Four rnces of the domestic ext are allowed as
Yarietics of F. cater, Linn, vizs—F. cuter dowesticus, Linn.; F. cates caralews, Linn; F. catus hispanievs, Linn
and F. catus angorenss, Linn. In the Supplement to this work, two species are deseribed—Fele capa and 2
bengalensis, the latter founded on Pennant’s Bengal Cat. Species 24
