Object description Tot ver in de zeventiende eeuw was het niet ongebruikelijk dat het bed in het voornaamste woonvertrek stond opgesteld, zo dicht mogelijk bij de warmte van de haard. Een vrijstaand ledikant in een apart slaapvertrek was alleen voorbehouden aan de rijkste families. Bedgordijnen die aan de hemel van het bed of voor de opening van de bedstede hingen, waren algemeen ingeburgerd en beschermden de bewoners ‘s nachts tegen de kou. Doordat het bed met gordijnen was behangen, speelde het een prominente rol in het interieur. Het bracht een kleuraccent in het vertrek, dat in samenhang met andere stoffen kon worden gekozen. Het bed is opvallend kort omdat men vroeger halfzittend sliep: dit werd gezonder voor de spijsvertering en voor de bloedsomloop geacht.

"hoekbed", hoge kap, ondersteund door balustervormige pilaren aan de twee zijden, de achterzijde is afgesloten dor een vol paneel verdeeld in vierkanten, gebeeldhouwde versiering met bloemslingers, leeuwenmaskers, cariatiden, kindermaskers, enz. Het bed is bekleed met fluwelen drapering, kussens en matras (alles nieuw).

The user will in no case create a link between the images and persons, organisations or political/religious beliefs in such a manner that Ans Brys and/or the persons or organisations depicted may be discredited. Any changes to the originally delivered images are regarded as violations of the right of use. Changes relating to croping, resolution, colour, bit depth, colour mode, grain, resolution, filters, disproportionate scaling, mirroring and retouching violate the right to respect and integrity of the work. 3/ In Belgium, copyright remains valid for a period of 70 years after the death of the author. After this period the work becomes part of the public domain. 4/ Any use of an image is inextricably linked to the mention of the copyright: Ans Brys underneath or next to the image, by means of a clear reference in the colophon or elsewhere. VIOLATION OF COPYRIGHT The user is informed of the fact that any unlawful use of images for which the right of use was purchased, whereby the above-mentioned legal conditions are not met, will inevitably lead to legal proceedings and that any costs incurred with respect to these legal proceedings will be recovered from the user. The user has full liability for any violation of the agreement. PROPERTY RIGHTS If the customer fails to meet his obligation to pay (in full) or fails to perform any other obligation, he is not allowed to make use of the images relating to the order, unless otherwise agreed. JURISDICTION The agreement is entirely governed by Belgian law. The courts of Antwerpen have exclusive jurisdiction for any disputes arising between Ans Brys and the customer, which will be settled by a judge to be designated by Ans Brys or her legal successor. A registered letter from Ans Brys will suffice in this respect.
