There is a distinct différence between the conventional guides to the literature and
Carter’s book. Conventional guides are concerned with the FORMS of the literature.
Chapters are devoted to each of the spécifie types such as "Abstracting and indexing
services”, "Sériais”, "Reports”, "Directories”, etc. Carter believes that the SOURCES
of information are more important than the forms in which it is dispensed. She has
organized her material to respect this priority.
